Domestic Pools > Case Study 8
Designed by celebrated Melbourne Landscape Designer, Jack Merlo, this swimming pool provides a brilliant backdrop for this in suburban property.
Due to the sloping nature of the property a large retaining wall structure was designed as part of the pool. Through clever planning it has been well disguised and compliments the swimming pool, sitting as a floating bluestone wall above the pool.
A timber day bed suspended out over the pool supports the linear design while also allowing a quiet place to relax in the sun.
Large format Charcoal Porcelain tiles have been used throughout the swimming pool. Due to the size of the tile the set out of the concrete structure was critical to minimize tile cutting and maximize appearance. Internal square corners were also required to achieve this.
The pool is very low maintenance and functional for 12 months of the year by incorporation of dual heating and the installation of a PCC2000 self cleaning system. Water is treated by salt chlorination and topped up automatically from water supplied by the 50,000 litre underground tanks.
All effort has been made to make this pool as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible, providing guilt free all year swimming.
